I’m going to be totally honest. The first time I listened to this song, I…didn’t like it very much. It didn’t really feel like Stray Kids. It felt a little cheesy. And to be fair, it is a brand campaign song for sunscreen, so…it’s bound to be a little cheesy. And it’s far from the cheesiest or cringiest thing they’ve done for a brand partnership. But it just felt…off, I guess.
And then I cracked the code. We finally had the first sunny, warm day after the song dropped. And I listened to the song at full blast in the car with the windows down. And I finally got it! It’s a vibe song! And personally, selfishly, I love that it’s in English, which means I can belt along with it in the car with the windows down!
Of course, it does have lyrics and a meaning along with the bright, bouncy track. So, let’s look at those.
Here is the audio to listen to as you read the lyrics.

Now, a little backstory on the song itself. Bioré’s UV announced that they had chosen Stray Kids for their global campaign “Sunlight Is Your Spotlight” in 2024. And as far as I can find on Bioré’s social media accounts, they’ve been posting content with Stray Kids since April of 2025. “Endless Sun” was announced on Bioré’s X profile just days before the song dropped, and a week later, an accompanying “anthem film” dropped as well.
We got some commentary on the song and the anthem film from the members at the Bioré 2026 Global Campaign Kickoff event, just after the anthem film dropped.
Han talked a bit about the lyrics, saying they tried to come up with a way to capture the “essence of sunscreen” and figure a spotlight would be a good way to do it. And then layered on everyone shining and forging their own paths.
The official introduction on Melon reads:
“Based on Bioré UV’s campaign message ‘SUNLIGHT IS YOUR SPOTLIGHT,’ the new song ‘Endless Sun’ embodies Stray Kids’ encouragement and positive spirit of challenge to overcome fear and forge one’s own path, conveying the message that ‘we are beings who shine from birth.’ Characterized by an upbeat sound and refreshing melody, the track portrays the moment of youth unfolding dreams under the sunlight.”
And under the credits, it gives this comment from Stray Kids:
“‘Endless Sun,’ characterized by an upbeat EDM pop sound based on the progressive house genre, depicts the moments of youth unfolding their dreams under the sunlight by adding refreshing synth melodies. It contains a message of encouragement: ‘We are beings who shine from birth, so let’s carve out our own paths.’”
It’s unclear to me whether “Sunlight Is Your Spotlight” came from Bioré or Stray Kids, because Han made it sound like that concept kind of came from them and the song. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the campaign was already named that, and 3RACHA then wrote a song around it. I just have no idea what was included in the contract, when the contract was signed, how long this has been in the works, and when the song was written relative to the campaign.
Either way, it’s a pretty straightforward metaphor that not only works for Stray Kids as performers on stage with literal spotlights but also for everyone. Sunlight really does give you hope, as cheesy and cliché as that is, right? There’s a reason we think of Spring as new beginnings, not only for plant growth and animals. Coming out of the cold and dark of winter (at least in the northern hemisphere), Spring is refreshing.
I live in Canada, where Spring brings a dramatic shift in weather and light. In the dead of winter, the sun rose around 8-8:30am and set by 4:30-5pm. At most, that’s nine hours of sunlight. And it gets worse, the farther north you get, of course. We spent a few months this winter just north of Edmonton, where we got between seven and a half and eight hours of sunlight. And the weather matched, especially up north. The worst day we had was about -40 degrees (F and C).
So, when I say I was relieved when it started warming up at the day started getting longer, it’s an understatement. Now, it’s warm, and the days are long. Today, sunrise was at 5:30am and the sunset will be at 9:30pm. And even after sunset, it’s light outside until nearly 10. That’s sixteen hours of sunlight.
All that to say, sunshine can affect your mood. And when spring comes around or when the sun comes out after days of rain, it’s refreshing. This is a common metaphor of hope and new beginnings. Even Stray Kids themselves have the line “the sun will always be there waiting after the rain” in “Cover Me.” They’ve reframed it more literally with a spotlight.
The song is also motivating itself. It talks about dreams and being meant to shine. And in the post-choruses, there’s the line “we make our dreams become reality.” You put the work in. You have the power to make your dreams come true. Cheesy, again, but motivating.
I especially liked the lines in verse 1 that I pointed out in my annotations:
I’m chasing my new dreams
Still feel like a rookie
This is something Stray Kids have said a lot, especially around their eighth anniversary in March. They still feel like rookies. They can’t believe eight years have passed. That’s a relatable sentiment when thinking of the passage of time. And I think on top of that, they’re chasing new dreams. They’ve accomplished a lot this last year, but they always say there’s more coming, and there’s more they want to try. It’s a sweet sentiment to think of new dreams and goals as still feeling like a newbie. I’m not sure how to put it into words, but it resonated with me, for sure.
The anthem film is like a commercial crossed with a music video. At only a minute long, there’s not much to say about it. The comments the members gave during the kickoff event were positive. They said it was gorgeous weather. And it was filmed in Australia. And I like to think that they always enjoy going to Australia as a group. Chan and Felix get to go home, and while I don’t know how long they were there or how much free time they had, it’s clear they like visiting Chan and Felix’s hometown. It has extra significance for the whole group.
And they seemed to have fun with it, as evident in the behind the scenes reel Bioré posted last week.
Overall, this song is cheesy and a little cliché. But it really is a bop to listen to on a beautiful sunny day. As I’m writing this, I’m staring at a clear blue sky out my window and relishing the sun after a week of rain. Despite the cheesiness and the sort of…formality with it being part of a brand campaign, Stray Kids made it theirs. It still has bits of them in it – their story, their sound, and their talent.
